Focusing solely on Pilates Methodology, our sessions are equipment based – Trapeze Table, Spine Corrector, Ladder Barrel, Wunda Chair and Reformer to name a few. This equipment allows us to optimise our client’s movements, reduce muscular imbalance and enhance overall health.

You have questions; we have answers. Here are the most common questions we get asked.

New clients

Comfort is key! During your session you will be moving on all of the equipment, so wearing activewear that moves with your body, keeps you supported, and makes you feel comfortable is essential. Avoid super loose and flowing clothing as it can get caught in the equipment. For hygiene and safety, please wear socks, grip socks are available and can be purchased in the studio for $22.95 incl GST.

You may wish to bring a sweat towel if you sweat a lot. Staying well-hydrated is important. We wipe down the equipment after each session. Hydration is important! Please help our environment by bringing your own water bottle.

Pilates is suitable for everybody. Expect to be challenged to a level that is suitable for you. You will work through a range of repertoire designed to focus on both strength and flexibility. Expect to feel and see your body change with each session that goes by. Your instructor will talk to you about the repertoire, the why and the how.

Life is busy! We ask that you please ensure your phone is on silent. If you need to take an important call please do so quietly, so as not to disturb other clients.

Everyone’s life is different. What is appropriate for you will depend on a range of factors; your current lifestyle, any injuries you may have, what your goals are and what works for you.  Our average recommendation is 2 to 3 sessions per week. If you are unsure please ask! We are only too happy to help guide you. We would love to have a chat. Ultimately we want Pilates to be something you look forward to!

Booking and Cancellations

Bookings are required for all classes and can be done online via the Vagaro app. We suggest booking well in advance or block booking your preferred classes, as particular time slots have a tendency to book out. This also helps you stay consistent in your Pilates.

If the class you wish to book is full, you may add yourself to the waitlist. If someone cancels out of this class the next person on the waitlist will be automatically added to the class. It is your responsibility to check your emails as this is how you will be notified that you have been added to the class. Please remove yourself from the waitlist if you no longer wish to attend the class as normal cancellation terms will apply.

Booking cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours before your session. Cancellations within 24 hours will not be refundable.

Our 5, 10 and 20 Packs have a 6-month expiry date – very generous! All 5, 10 and 20 packs must be used within the specified period. Any unused sessions outside of these periods will expire. We suggest booking your sessions well in advance to avoid missing out on your preferred session times. If you are not certain you will use the whole pack within this time period, you may wish to purchase casual classes instead. You may prefer to purchase casual classes.

You are welcome to still attend class if you are running late. A little Pilates is always better than no Pilates! Please enter the class with minimal disruption to others.

Pre-natal and post-natal

Congratulations! We are more than happy to guide you at a time in your life that is both exciting and filled with changes. We are here to support you in staying strong, mobile and flexible. The mind-body connection is vital and important in pregnancy.

Absolutely! Pilates is a well-acknowledged form of movement you are able to participate in before giving birth. Our instructors are educated in Pre + Post Natal Pilates with a focus on pelvic stability, strengthening of the arms, shoulders and legs, plus the mobility of the spine, you can be confident our personalised approach will have you feeling safe, cared for and challenged. We recommend studio classes during your pregnancy. Our sessions are suitable right up until birth unless otherwise advised by your healthcare practitioner.

Following your post-delivery check-up at 6 weeks and the approval of your care provider, we are more than delighted to see you back in the studio. Every delivery and return to Pilates is different. Our comprehensively trained instructors will take into consideration those details plus how you are feeling to provide a tailored session suitable for you.

We understand that you may be playing supermom, trying to fit it all in! We love seeing your babies! For little ones to help keep them happy, please bring some snacks and activities for them. It is important they remain away and off from the equipment.

Keen to avoid surgery following a running injury, Angela looked to Pilates as a way to rehabilitate and balance muscle. By the second week, Angela knew this was a form of therapy she wanted to pursue professionally. Since then, Angela has gained her Diploma in Professional Pilates Instruction from Polestar Pilates Australia. Angela is now both an Assistant Educator and Mentor for Polestar Pilates.

Angela brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience as an operating room nurse. Her clinical specialities are diverse and include urology, cardio-thoracic, orthopaedics, general surgery, obstetrics, and robotics. Angela combines this broad knowledge base with Pilates and uses this comprehension of surgery to help clients prepare for surgery and assist them in recovery.

Angela performed for eight years with Opera Australia as a professional opera singer and appreciates the importance of breath in facilitating movement as well as the vitality of the breath-body connection.

Angela’s philosophy towards Pilates is that it can benefit everyone and that it’s less about moving perfectly and more about moving optimally for the individual.

Back in her best friend’s lounge room circa 2001, Teresa popped on a Mari Winsor Pilates VHS and started counting to 100. Here, she found her core, along with her love of Pilates. Teresa continued mastering her personal practice, discovering the myriad benefits of ‘Contrology’ for both the body and the mind.

Teresa then decided to turn her hobby into her career to share this passion. She completed her studies with Polestar Pilates in 2019 and holds their Studio Certification. As she started to teach Teresa realised, she wanted to understand the Pilates method even more and how it came to be, so took the next step in her journey to learn the Classical system under the mentorship of Olga Tamara of Authentic Pilates Education International. Teresa is fully certified from basic to advanced level and is a proud 3rd Generation Pilates Teacher.

Teresa will focus on the ‘why’ in your session, not just the how, to ensure a truly individualised and tailored Pilates prescription.

Besides Pilates, Teresa loves curling up with a good book, preferably by the beach!

Kathy was introduced to Pilates by a friend, and she assisted her friend as a body model to achieve her goal. Kathy became encouraged and fascinated to learn more about the Joseph Pilates repertoire, which became her journey to becoming a Polestar Pilates Instructor.

Owning her own business for 14 years in the Beauty Industry, providing professional, results-driven treatment, nurturing and caring for each client and helping them achieve what they needed from the outside gave Kathy more inspiration to help from within.

Kathy’s new journey in Pilates has inspired her to share her love and knowledge of the repertoire with clients, helping them achieve their personal goals within their bodies through movement.

Kathy will help you increase your confidence, build core strength and mobility, improve posture, and always listen to you to achieve your individual goals.
